Omeila Foods was born out of a mother’s love!
My amazing son Omar has allergies to 6 of the top 9 allergens.
When he was first diagnosed, I was so scared, I just wanted to hide and keep him safe at home!
As he got into school and invited to birthday parties with his friends, I knew that wasn’t fair to him.
So I reached out to other allergy parents for guidance on navigating food allergies outside the home, and the one piece of advice they all gave me was “Bring your own food”.
But as a busy working mother, I couldn’t bake from scratch every time he was invited somewhere!
If I tried to buy a cake at a bakery or grocery store, there were multiple warnings about possible cross contamination, so he wasn’t any safer.
What I needed was an allergy safe cake mix that I could prepare from the safety of my own home, and was as easy as opening a bag of ingredients, mixing with some wet ingredients, baking, and I was done.
And it had to be delicious! It was important to me that his dessert was just as satisfying as those of his friends.
When I couldn’t find what I was looking for on the market, I decided to create my own.
I tinkered in the kitchen for about a year, and I knew I had the right recipe when my husband came back for seconds!
Omeila Foods vanilla cake mix is free of 8 of the top 9 allergens - no eggs, dairy, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish or shellfish. It does contain wheat.
Even prepared, it is vegan and free of any artificial colors or artificial flavors. It is just 7 simple ingredients and all you need is vegetable oil and water!
And there are no package warnings about possible cross contamination!
